Many complained about this, but after using it for six months, I can confidently say that the new material resists oil and sweat far better than expected. The difference is truly noticeable.

For comparison, I’ve been using the Logitech G903 as my office mouse for the past year, and its surface has developed a significant oil buildup despite my best efforts.

On the other hand, the Dragon Scale still looks pristine with zero traces of oil after half a year of use. This speaks volumes about the effectiveness of the material used, and it’s one of the mouse’s standout features.

Moon White vs. Black Dragon Scale: No Major Differences, Only Aesthetic Changes

As expected, ROG has released the white variant of the Dragon Scale—Moon White—half a year after the original black version.

However, despite the initial hype that suggested the white version might come with improved features, I found that the two are essentially identical in terms of performance and feel. Both versions share the same shape, weight, sensor, and functions.

One notable difference, though, is the RGB lighting. Since the scroll wheel on the white Dragon Scale isn’t blackened like the black version, the lights on the Moon White mouse appear brighter and more vivid.

But, aside from the aesthetics, there’s no functional difference between the two. Both mice perform at the same level, with identical parameters.

The Huaying ACE Mouse Pad: Perfect Pairing with Dragon Scale

The Dragon Scale is not just a mouse, but part of a greater ROG ecosystem, and the accompanying Huaying ACE mouse pad is a testament to that. Initially, I wasn’t much of a mouse pad connoisseur.

To me, a mouse pad was just a surface, with differences that barely stood out. But after using the Huaying ACE, I now have a better appreciation for what a good mouse pad can offer.

The Huaying ACE was designed specifically to complement the Dragon Scale, and it shows. Compared to my long-time favorite, the Zowie GSR, the Huaying ACE offers a smoother surface with excellent control.

At first, switching from the GSR to the Huaying ACE felt strange; it was so smooth that it almost seemed too fast. However, after getting used to it, the experience became much more enjoyable, with a perfect balance of smoothness and control.

Surface Coating: Waterproof, Sweat-Proof, and Oil-Proof

One of the standout features of the Huaying ACE is its surface coating. It’s not just smooth—it’s also waterproof, sweat-proof, and oil-proof. In practical terms, this means that if you spill water on it, you can simply wipe it off, and it won’t seep into the pad.

Additionally, the coating ensures that your arm rests comfortably on the pad without any irritation, unlike the rougher texture of the GSR.

Value for Money: A Bargain Deal

When it comes to pricing, the Huaying ACE is relatively affordable compared to other high-performance esports mouse pads, with an official retail price of 249 RMB.

However, if you buy the Dragon Scale, you can get the Huaying ACE for just an additional 99 RMB—an absolute steal for such a quality product.

Even if you decide the Huaying ACE isn’t to your liking after purchasing, you can easily resell it for around 200 RMB on secondhand platforms like Xiaohuangyu, which means you’ll lose very little if you decide it’s not for you.
